The 2017 Honda Ridgeline Takes Own Path
Unwilling to settle with just building a great truck, Honda took it upon itself to redefine the truck with the all-new 2017 Ridgeline.
The second-generation Ridgeline was completely reconfigured for 2017 and the results are a more "truck" looking truck, but a substantiality more refined one as well. Only in a crew cab and only with a V6, the Ridgeline stakes its claim as to what it wants to be before letting what's unique about it to flourish.
Redefining the truck
The Ridgeline has the smooth ride and comfort of a car. Feel the sophistication, both inside and out, of the Ridgeline going out on the town. Or make use of its tremendous truck qualities when needed. The bed of the truck is 5ft 4inches, has 8 tie down cleats, and the front wheel drive has a stout 1600lb towing capacity.
The interior cab was taken directly from the Pilot, so material refinement and comfort are just as rich as any SUV on the market. A smooth ride comes from the independent suspension and the Honda Ridgeline's move away from frame on body construction.
What is truly unique about the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is the innovative bed. It has a dual action tailgate that can come in real handy. It lowers like a traditional gate, but also pivots on its side hinge like a gate to allow for better access to the bed. The Ridgeline bed also has a large storage compartment. With the drain plug, it can double as a huge cooler.
The 280-hp V6 and available AWD round out the Ridgeline's alpha identity as a truck. It offers front wheel drive instead of rear as well, which gives the Ridgeline an advantage in handling compared to other more traditional mid-sized trucks. Upper Ridgeline trims have bed speakers give the Ridgeline another unique feature that truck owners will love.
Unit Body construction of the Ridgeline also helps with handling and ride quality, making the truck more rigid as well as lighter. The Ridgeline's V6 engine delivers the best gas mileage of any other V6 currently on the market.
Like other Honda's, standard safety features are advanced and plentiful. The Ridgeline comes with Vehicle Safety Assist, Anti-Lock Braking system, Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and rearview camera.
Driver assist technology available includes Honda Lane Watch™ and available Lane Keeping Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. The Ridgeline is packed with audio and connectivity. Bluetooth Hands Free and Streaming Audio are standard and includes speed sensitive volume control.
